Homelands is an intergenerational project starting October 2024.
We will be working with older people and primary school children based in Newham.
Background
Throughout the project we well be collecting and sharing stories about migration experiences from their original homeland to Newham.
We will explore stories using drama, artefacts, poetry and movement.
Stories collected will be shared as part of an interactive exhibition to that will take place in March 2025.
Aims of the Project
- Reduce feelings of isolation and loneliness
- Connect communities in Newham
- Provide opportunities for diverse older people and children to collaborate
- Support participants to use oral storytelling skills
- Develop greater understand of heritage
- Build confidence and increase feelings of wellbeing
- Strengthen a sense of community and belonging
